Ballum Crafts Day

Ballum Crafts Day

When
July 23, 2026
Where
Ballum

For one whole day, the charming village of Ballum steps back in time, with traditional costumes and old crafts.

Crafts Day turns the picturesque village of Ballum into a living open-air museum for a day. Residents and stallholders dress up in historical costume and show the old crafts and customs that were once common on the island: threshing, pleating bonnets, making clogs, processing flax and spinning. All over the village, traditions come back to life.

It is a fun day out for young and old. Children get to know what life was like in the old days, while adults enjoy authentic Ameland traditions, regional products and the cosy village atmosphere. The event is free to attend and takes place in the historic centre of Ballum, the smallest and perhaps the most charming village on the island.

Don't want to miss Ballum Crafts Day? Stay in one of the butterfly apartments at De Vlindertuin during your visit to Ameland, just a short distance from the events on the island.
