By car

Drive to the ferry terminal in Holwerd (from Leeuwarden via the N357). Park at the terminal or take your car on the ferry: book a car crossing in advance with Wagenborg.

By ferry

Wagenborg Passagiersdiensten sails several times a day between Holwerd and Nes; the crossing takes about 45 minutes. Current times and bookings at wagenborg.com.

By public transport

Take the train to Leeuwarden station, then the bus to the ferry terminal in Holwerd, and the ferry to Nes. On Ameland, the island buses take you to the centre of Nes, within walking distance of De Vlindertuin.

Parking is available at the ferry terminal in Holwerd. On Ameland, De Vlindertuin can be reached by car, bike or bus.
